PROGRAM INFORMATION

 

Lakeview Valley Certified Nursing Assistant tutoring program will provide students with the theories required to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant or a Licensed Nursing Assistant in long-term care, intermediate care, and acute care settings.

Students will learn about the Nursing Assistant’s role, foundation of resident care, understanding resident and family needs, anatomy and physiology, personal care skills, basic nursing skills, nutrition and hydration, chronic and acute conditions, and rehabilitation and restorative services.

 

CNA/LNA Practice Test & 8 Week Tutoring Program

Lakeview Valley’s 8-week intensive CNA tutoring program will prepare participants to take their State Board Exam. Facilitated by a licensed Registered Nurse, our tutoring program offers both written and simulated exams that are just like the actual exam. Each class will consist of reviewing practice exam questions that have been divided among the domain categories in the same way the actual exam is constructed. The questions in our practice exams are very similar to those on the real test. 

 

GRADING

The following grading scale will be used as a guideline for assigning grades:

91 - 100 A

81 - 90 B

78 - 80 C

Basic Nursing Practice Exams

This is our most popular CNA Practice Test, the first of three practice tests that cover the knowledge and basic nursing skills you will need as a CNA. There are 270 questions that will help you prepare for the CNA examination. Each question has been researched and the answer verified. Your ability to provide hands-on care means that you may be the first to notice changes in your patients.

Basic Restorative Services Practice Exams

The Basic Restorative Services practice exam contains 50 questions that are very similar to the real test. As a direct Care professional, a CNA helps clients regain function after surgery or injury. Daily care and support is important to their healing, as well as their attitude and spirit. In this section participants will also learn about Care of Cognitively Impaired Residents 1 and 2- helping a client with ADL, Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease etc..

Communication, Interpersonal, and Infection Control Practice Exams

During this section participants will review Communication and interpersonal Skills 1 & 2 plus infection control. Topics covered: active listening skills, working with clients from other cultures, assisting vision and hearing impaired clients, and more. The Infection Control sections focuses on direct patient care, protective protocols and how pathogens are shared. Topics include: types and causes of infections, personal protective equipment, respiratory etiquette.

Legal & Ethical Behaviours

CNA Tutoring program participants will learn about the laws and ethics of being a professional in health care. Topics include: scenarios with neglect and abuse, confidentiality and privacy, advanced directives, patient right to refuse, situations involving patient rights.

Mental Health & Social Service Needs, Personal Cares Skills & Resident Rights

This practice test covers Mental Health, personal care and resident rights. Program participants will learn that a CNA provides more than physical care for clients. This section will focus on mental health, care for clients, proper restraints, respecting other cultures and religions, stages of loss and grief, dealing with combative residents, personal care for including assisting with the basic functions (i.e. eating and getting dressed) physical and emotional support.

Final Online CNA Practice Exam

Lakeview Valley Crisis Intervention Institute will offer all tutoring program participants a comprehensive final exam consisting of 60 questions
